Can’t find the supplement products you are looking for?
The pandemic has put many strains and constraints on the supplement industry, and many of our suppliers are having trouble fulfilling our orders. If you don’t see something on our shelf that we used to have, or if you have been waiting for your special order for a long time, please know that we are doing our best to meet your needs.
The companies we work with have told us that demand for their products has skyrocketed since the pandemic, with some doubling their production over last year. Next, issues with global trade are limiting the availability of raw materials. And what’s more, there are the staffing issues: spreading out staff on the production lines to follow distancing guidelines means slower production, employees needing to quarantine because of exposure or stay home to care for children, and bottlenecks with hiring new staff as so many would-be working people are not looking for work. Overall, many companies are struggling (and not able to) keep up with demand and are choosing to focus on producing their most popular products.
Unfortunately, if you are wondering when we will be getting a product back in stock, it is usually not possible for us to know. In some cases, of course, the product is coming, and it has simply run out on our shelves for the moment! Look for the “Out of Stock from Manufacturer” versus the “Temporarily Out of Stock” signs we are utilizing throughout our department, or ask a Co-op team member if you have a specific question. Please keep in mind we are also looking for substitutes when an important product is expected to be unavailable for an extended period of time.
